What the API returns

The Panchanga tab is the daily JSON snapshot — every block /v1/vedic/panchanga returns. Slice routes still let an app fetch only tithi, only Navamsha, or only matching scores.

Daily angas

Tithi (name, number, paksha, class, fraction, elongation, end clock, transition list, tithi-nirṇaya), nakṣatra (pada, fraction, end), yoga, karaṇa (kind, remaining degrees, end), weekday, and paksha — at sunrise or the clock you send.

Months

Amanta and Purnimanta māsa, adhika flag, pūrṇimā date, and solar month (saur māsa / rāśi) at sunrise.

Eras and saṃvatsara

Vikram, Shaka, Kali; Yudhiṣṭhira and Paraśurāma; Bārhaspatya (Guru-madhyama) and Chandra-krama names; era new year on amānta Caitra śukla pratipadā.

Rise and set

Sunrise, sunset, next sunrise, solar noon (madhyāhna), moonrise, moonset, moon transit; dinamāna and rātrimāna in hours and ghaṭī.

Sankranti and ṛtu

Current rāśi, degrees in rāśi, degrees to next, gati, last and next sankranti clocks with nirṇaya; ṛtu and ayana.

Śāstra-kāla

Pūrvāhṇa, madhyāhna, aparāhṇa, kutapa, dvitīya prahara, pradoṣa, niśītha / mahāniśā, aruṇodaya; the six day-ṛtus (din-ṛtu).

Daily muhurta

Abhijit (Wednesday tyājya), Brahma, Godhuli, Rahu, Gulika, Yamaganda; 15 day + 15 night muhurtas with prahara; planetary hora (Drik snapshot); chaughadiya. Dedicated routes: /muhurta, /hora, /chaughadiya.

Bhadra

Vishti / Bhadra — sarpiṇī or vṛścikī, sthāna, bhūtal, parts with tyājya, start / end / duration.

Vāsa and diśā

Agni vāsa / agni-cakra periods, śiva vāsa, diśā-śūla, yoginī vāsa (dik and mukha).

Special yogas

Instant and ayanāṃśa

JD, ahargaṇa, local / ISO clock, sunrise vs calculation instant. Drik uses Lahiri; Sūrya is already nirayana (mean + spaṣṭa, tri-praśna, yuti, pāta, śṛṅgonnati, bhūgola on that engine).

Festival and year JSON

Paid: /v1/vedic/festivals/{id} and /v1/vedic/grahan. Purāṇa day notes on the snapshot. संयोग and संवत् remain Enterprise.

Two engines

Default is Sūrya-siddhānta on /v1/surya/panchanga. Drik (Lahiri, sunrise) is /v1/vedic/panchanga or engine=drik. Commercial unlocks the full stack on both.

Daily windows

Abhijit, Brahma, Godhuli, Rahu, Gulika, Yamaganda via /v1/vedic/muhurta.

Lagna kundali and chalit

Whole-sign D1 (rāśi, aṃśa, nakṣatra, avasthā, gati) and Sripati bhāva-chalit with sandhi, bhāva-madhya, and house strength.

Sixteen vargas

D1–D4, D7, D9, D10, D12, D16, D20, D24, D27, D30, D40, D45, D60. Each chart is a whole-sign table from the varga Lagna (rāśi, aṃśa, nakṣatra, bhāva), same as the printed kundali. Varga tulana is the D1–D60 sign grid.

Vimshottari dasha

Mahadasha, antardasha, and pratyantardasha from the Moon, with the full 120-year timeline. Dasha-phala grades the next 10 years of mahā–antar pairs from BPHS (dignity, bhāva, maitri) — not 81 fixed paragraphs, and not an invented event.

Yogini dasha

36-year udu cycle of eight Yoginis from the Moon nakṣatra, with mahadasha, antardasha, and three cycles from birth. Yogini-phala grades the next 10 years from the Yogini’s lord (dignity, bhāva, maitri) — BPHS wheel, Jātaka-pārijāta cross-check, not 64 fixed paragraphs.

Yogas and doshas

Selected Parashari yogas (including Harsha, Sarala, Vimala, and Nīcabhaṅga) with D9 confirmation and ṣaḍbala on the yoga grahas, Kuja / Māṅgalika with Phaladeepika 10 verses and bhaṅga yogas, Kaal Sarpa type and house, and Sāḍhe-sātī / ḍhaiyā from the natal Moon with upcoming Saturn gati and Phaladeepika 26 verses.

Āyurdāya

Piṇḍāyu, Naisargikāyu, and Aṃśāyu from BPHS, Phaladeepika selection, then the three-pair yoga-khaṇḍa and māraka daśā (BPHS 44). A working span — not a death-date.

Bhāva-phala

Twelve houses from BPHS 12–24: Lagna → bhāveśa → dignity → dṛṣṭi/yuti → kāraka → daśā. Sārāvalī and Phaladeepika confirm the same chain. Not generic rāśi-phala, and not a Bhrigu dump.

Career report

First composite report: 10th house and lord, service vs enterprise, livelihood fields, income (2+11), yogas, SAV, ṣaḍbala, maitri, and the next 10 years of career dasha windows. Not a job-title prediction.

Wealth report

Dhana (2), Labha (11), Bhāgya (9), property (4), Randhra/Vyaya strain — with BPHS adhyāya cites, yogas, SAV, ṣaḍbala, and timing. Capacity, not a windfall amount.

Marriage report

Putra (5), Kutumba (2), Bandhu (4), Jupiter/Moon, santāna yogas, home tone, SAV, and timing. Capacity — not a child-count, gender, or birth date.

Dasha timeline

Wrap of Vimśottarī dasha-phala and Yogini-phala: current mahā–antar, next 1 / 3 / 5 years, and change windows. Support — not a new daśā or an event.

Varshaphal

Tajika Nīlakaṇṭhī year-chart: muntha, pañca-adhikārī / varṣeśa, three mudda daśās, Ithasāla, five attested sahams, year windows, and a twelve-month mudda timeline. Drik uses a Lahiri Sun-return; Sūrya uses sphuṭa Sūrya from Sūrya-siddhānta. Capacity for the year — not a job, wedding, or death date.

Strength

BPHS Shadbala, Ashtakavarga tables (śodhana, śodhya piṇḍa), and Ashtakavarga phala — relative house ranks and each graha’s own BAV on gochara, not a “30+ is good” cutoff. Graha garima, graha and bhāva sāraṃśa, and a bala dashboard with CSS bar charts (no Chart.js).

Jaimini and graha dṛṣṭi

Chara karakas, karakamsha, arudha padas, and Jaimini rāśi dṛṣṭi, plus Parāśari graha dṛṣṭi (7th, with special aspects for Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and the nodes).

Janma vivaran and avakahada

Birth sheet (samvatsara, tithi, janma nakshatra, birth mahadasha) and Moon-nakshatra avakahada with pāya and nāma akṣara.

Maitri

Pañcadhā maitri chakra and graha dṛṣṭi from the same birth data.

Chalit and special charts

Sripati bhāva-chalit with sandhi (Drik: Placidus MC; Sūrya-siddhānta: daśama from RAMC). Chandra and Sūrya kundali use the same D1 table as Lagna, counted from the Moon or the Sun.

Gochara

Current slow-graha transits from natal Lagna and Moon (Phaladeepika 26), natal impact, upcoming sign-ingresses, and each graha’s own Ashtakavarga bindus plus relative SAV. The join of gochara and AV is the distinctive layer — not a “30+ is good” cutoff, and not an event date.

Kundali book PDF

Enterprise only (from ₹1,20,000 / year, unlimited credits). One call prints the full natal book. Pass white_label=1 with name and logo — no watermark. Matching uses the same Lahiri longitudes as the kundali routes. No second ephemeris.

Commercial headline is 250,000 standard API credits / month, subject to reasonable-use limits and the weights below. A tithi slice is 1 credit; Shadbala or a full kundali pack costs more, so one key cannot treat ₹3,000 / month as unlimited CPU.

How do I start using the API?

Create a free account, open the dashboard, and generate a key. Send it as X-API-Key on every JSON request. Catalogs at /v1/ and /v1/vedic need no key. The Basic JSON slice (angas, vāra, sunrise, spaṣṭa grahas) is on both engines. Paid routes — full panchanga, muhurta, kundali, matching, festivals — need a paid key.

What should I send on a request?

Send a civil date (YYYY-MM-DD) and a place name, or lat, lon, and tz. Leave time empty for sunrise of the chosen engine. Kundali also needs the birth clock. Matching uses the same fields twice, with boy_ and girl_ prefixes. Kārya-muhūrta needs karya= (for example griha_pravesha) and optionally span=year. Default place is Dehradun if none is given.

What does each plan unlock?

Free Basic is the public JSON slice and 1,000 credits a month — not for production. That slice is on both paddhati: Drik and Sūrya-siddhānta. Developer (₹4,999 / year) and Pro (₹14,999 / year) open the full Drik engine — panchanga, muhurta, kundali, matching — for non-commercial work; their Sūrya access stays the Basic slice. Commercial (₹36,000 / year) is the production license: those four APIs, white-label JSON, and the full Sūrya-siddhānta engine. Festival JSON opens on any paid plan. संयोग and संवत् JSON are Enterprise only. Enterprise starts at ₹1,20,000 / year with unlimited credits: those two tools, kundali book PDF / pack, bulk date routes, named domains, and an SLA. See coverage and pricing.

When should I use Drik, and when Sūrya-siddhānta?

Use Sūrya-siddhānta for the classical engine (mean and true graha, Chapter 9 asta/udaya, that engine’s own sunrise): /v1/surya/… or engine=surya. Use Drik for Lahiri sidereal longitudes and Drik sunrise: /v1/panchanga and /v1/vedic/…. Free Basic already has the public slice on both. Kundali, matching, and other paid SS routes stay Commercial. The two engines will not return the same clocks or longitudes. Do not mix one engine’s sunrise with the other’s grahas.

What do panchanga, muhurta, kundali, and matching return?

A daily panchanga call needs a civil date and a place (or lat/lon/tz). It returns the full snapshot: angas with transitions and tithi-nirṇaya; Amanta / Purnimanta and solar months; Vikram / Shaka / Kali plus Yudhiṣṭhira and Paraśurāma; saṃvatsara; rise/set, noon, moon transit, dinamāna; sankranti, ṛtu, ayana; śāstra-kāla; daily muhurta, hora, chaughadiya; Bhadra, agni / śiva / yoginī vāsa, diśā-śūla; Sarvartha / Amrit / Ravi / Krakacādi; saṅkalpa; spaṣṭa grahas, Lagna, yuddha; asta / udaya and near-instant grahaṇa. Muhurta for a named work is a separate call: /v1/vedic/karya-muhurta. Vivāha-milan returns place panchanga, tri-bala, lagna-śuddhi, and latta. A kundali call also needs birth time. It returns lagna, grahas, chalit, sixteen vargas (D1–D60), Vimśottarī and Yogini with phala, a dasha timeline, Varṣaphala, Gochara, six life reports, yogas, Kuja / Māṅgalika, Kaal Sarpa, Sade Sati, Āyurdāya, Bhāva-phala, Shadbala, Ashtakavarga, and Jaimini karakas. Matching returns Ashtakoot scores out of 36 (Muhūrta-cintāmaṇi verses, printed bhaṅga, Nadi) and paired Manglik with pair-bhaṅga. Other dasha systems and Dashakoot are not in this release. How do I request a muhurta?

Daily windows: GET /v1/vedic/muhurta, /v1/vedic/hora, /v1/vedic/chaughadiya with date and place. For a named work, call GET /v1/vedic/karya-muhurta?karya=griha_pravesha (also bhumi_pujan, vyavasaya, yatra, namakarana, vahana, vidyarambha, puja, shalya). Add span=year for a year scan, direction= for yātrā, and kind=nava|jirna for a house. Wedding-place śuddhi is /v1/vedic/vivaha-milan. Classical engine: the same paths under /v1/surya/….

How do API credits work?

Each successful JSON call spends credits from this month’s allowance. A tithi or geocode call is 1 credit; a daily panchanga is 2; a kundali slice is 3; one varga is 4; Shadbala, Ashtakavarga, dasha-phala, yogini-phala, varṣaphala, gochara-report, Jaimini, kundali/full, or matching is 5. The printable kundali book PDF (25) and the mobile pack (30) are Enterprise only; Enterprise starts at ₹1,20,000 / year with unlimited credits. Commercial’s 250,000 credits are a monthly allowance, not unlimited compute. Multi-day range, kala, and month routes are also Enterprise only. Extra credit packs are on the dashboard after Pro or Commercial is active.

In which language does the API reply?

JSON field names are English. Paid panchanga includes Hindi in display and in saṅkalpa, so an app does not have to transliterate tithi or nakṣatra names. There is no multi-language interpretation or article pack.

May I use this in a production app or under my own brand?

Production and paid apps need a Commercial or Enterprise key. Free, Developer, and Pro keys are not a production license and must keep the engine credit on public pages. Commercial and Enterprise may hide the engine name (white-label). Terms: Drik-API License 1.0 and, for the classical engine, SSP-API License 1.0.

Will the numbers match a printed panchanga or another API?

They follow this host’s Drik or Sūrya-siddhānta implementation, the place you send, and that engine’s sunrise. A regional print, another vendor, or a different ayanamsa will differ. That is expected. License §17 states there is no warranty of identity with any one almanac.

Do you ship a festival calendar or a CMS plugin?

No. This product is a calculation API. Festival JSON is on /v1/vedic/festivals/{id}. WordPress, Shopify, and Wix plugins are not included. Build those on top of the JSON if you need them.

Where do I get help or an Enterprise grant?

Open a ticket from the dashboard. Commercial includes ticket support. Enterprise includes phone support — write to info@tantragurukul.org for the Dehradun line on the grant. Docs stay at API docs and /v1/vedic.
